Town of Macedon New York State
I live in the Town of Macedon, in the state of New York. Growing up here was the best but things have changed since then. We use to have freedom to do what we wanted in our private lives over the years as my step-siblings, brother and I were raised by my mother and step-father. However, today, with so many people craving control over the activities of other individuals, the town's handling of such affairs leaves a lot to be desired.
The neighbors my siblings and I grew up with and whom are still living close by are still wonderful (DuValls, David Stalker, Roses, Ruth & Wilber, Kiems)Things have not changed much with them. However, those that moved in since then? ... well, let me just be tactful and just say that they are less than wonderful. I will keep it at that for this page!
I believe the town of Macedon is poorly run and as a result, is in stark contrast to its neighboring town of Walworth. Just walking into the office building of each town, the morale of the town staff is immediately apparent. In Macedon, the way their jobs are accomplished is of lesser caliber and their actions sometimes seem to bely few moral inhibitions. Worst of all, the court in the Town of Macedon harbors no due process as every defendant (if not a police officer or government agency representative), is treated as "guilty until proven innocent". The judges seem very nice and speak to the visitors of the court respectively; however, I would be remiss if I didn't admit that they run nothing but a kangaroo court.
Unfortunately, with the government's obsession to control every aspect of our lives in this country, it isn't surprising that New York has taken over the helm of excessive regulations and laws which are inconsistently and arbitrarily enforced. We have rapists who keep their badges and given plush easy jobs in departments like zoning while also maintaining an extremely inappropriate influence over the kangaroo court, as is the case in Macedon. We have police agents involved in petty gossip "spilling the beans" by divulging the private details of certain cases unnecessarily. The list goes on, and of course, this narrative represents my opinion as I claim to speak for no other, but myself. To sum it up, Macedon is not a place where good people live anymore; although, there are still a few of us left here and there.
This attitude adopted by town staff members will play a part in how my particular situation was handled by state authorities as well as how it continues to be the fuel for the fire used by the neighbors in their attempts to bully my elderly parents and I who have never treated any of them in such a way to deserve the aggression and malice of a few neighbors, some of whom I have never even spoken with, much less bicker or leave bad vibes with conversation of any kind.
It's quite odd how someone can become hateful at the drop of a hat and about some pre-existing object on or sound coming from the property of another. Because harboring wildlife is an obscure interest, such irresponsible behavior exhibited by a few neighbors results in an intolerance of the diversity of experience offered by such an uncommon enterprise as a CHARITABLE service providing the community with a place to take distressed wildlife AND education of such creatures.
Funding such an enterprise, regarding specific neighbors of ours, is really not any business of theirs, regardless if the service is funded strictly by donations or other means such as sponsorships, breeding programs of selected animal species and/or opening up the facility to the public for educational reasons. It's irrational that anyone would oppose the efforts of a service that requires so much work, responsibility and VALUE to the community for which it solely exists. What's next? ... running the local soup kitchen out of town? (just an example. i don't think Macedon has such services for the community. Clearly, such services are not valued and inappropriately targeted until the services such efforts provide become non-existent.
How sad, ... a town full of people who moved in fairly recently with the attitude of "me, me, me!" and the mistaken belief that their needs, desires and belief systems are all that matters within a community that can be (outside of Macedon, NY, that is) quite diverse and rich with experience for the community. The self-doubt and obsession obviously revealed through the actions of a few newcomers threaten the very freedoms to which we ALL are entitled. The idea that a particular household can be bullied and pushed around by the childish behavior consisting of a few others is quite unnecessary and only serves to create future difficulties and problems, if such don't already exist in the present day. It is equally ludicrous that we have a town government that can be so easily manipulated by a few individuals while representing interests of an outside state agency known to be a failure at keeping the public welfare as top priority. As citizens, the good people of this state need to rethink and refrain from giving such responsibilities (such as enforcing laws, rules, standards, etc. and licensing) and we should think even harder at revoking or restricting the jurisdiction of a given authority's unsound influence, such as those of The Department of Environmental Conservation. This Department needs massive additional oversight that currently does not exist, unfortunately.
In Macedon, as well as in other parts of this state, you must have a good attorney who will zealously represents or else you will be severely taken advantage of by the town, especially the zoning department. It may take you 6 months to get variance paperwork from the office while your many attempts at communication continue to go unanswered and virtually ignored. However, let a neighbor start up a calling campaign involving others who would have not been involved otherwise, the Gestapo is released! Well, guess what? I will talk about how to combat such efforts by not only the town, but the state as well when you are the target of their collusion that entails the destruction of your business and illegal denial of your rights.
Neighbors as Nuisances
"nuisance" - a word that is always used to describe the natural ways of a wild animal as it chooses a very small part of one's property either to, temporarily inhabit, have its family or use as a means to transverse across distances in their natural endeavor to forage and scout their territory. This word is particularly offensive to those of us who understand and value the environment including all of its inhabitants and seek its protection, often times in lieu of its consumption.
Well, in Macedon, the neighbors are nuisances. I'm sure there are some in other parts of the state as well. However, I digress about how humans can be appropriately regarded as nuisance species as a whole, and steer the conversation to how one may address bad people when they become bad neighbors.
Always Remember, A Neighbor or Authority They Succeed to Manipulate, CAN NEVER, deny:
A.) The Right to be Different (and therefore, "ungullible")
First, you have the right to be different and offer uncommon outlets for others, so long as the welfare of the public is sustained. If you are different, either in personality traits or interests, or both, you will be a very easy and common target for the typical "gullible". A "gullible" is synonymous with "follower". In effect, it is a person who invests undue effort in believing anything another person says without even thinking about the validity or the existence of proof of such statements. Most gullibles introduce an unprecedented level of obnoxiousness as they are adamant on becoming part of a "group action" (aka bullying effort) of another person who many times (and in my case) has done absolutely nothing to the gullible(s). A high-grade gullible is a person who will revert the truth that clearly lies right in front of their eyes, in order to destroy another person's reputation. Hence, it isn't uncommon for such gullibles to have difficulties in reading and listening comprehension. In fact, I believe that is a mandatory standard for considering a typical follower to be a high-grade "gullible". Here is an example from one of the DEC's helpers. (coming soon)
B.) Legitimate use of private property, without Applying & Satisfying Appropriate Legal Standards (and without making up such
standards)
Zoning offices have exerted a lot of authority over the private lives and property, especially real property, of those they are suppose to serve. It's also not unusual for these employees of the town to destroy small businesses and apply their own personal standards and made-up codes and laws to anyone they choose. It's amazing how much such people get away with doing so! In Macedon, there is Scott Allen, the head of the zoning office and Ron Hall, who assists Mr. Allen in the Zoning Department but also still carries a badge as a Macedon Police Officer. In my case, Lt. Powell ended up bonding with Allen and Hall and coloring their tolerance of me to the point where many derogatory statements were said to my parents when they met with Allen. Yet I never met Mr. Allen, never spoke to him on the phone and never dealt with him at all. I did, however, have to wait about six months while constantly sending in requests for variance paperwork a few months prior to Powell becoming involved with telling Allen and Hall how awful of a person I am. Perhaps part of the reason for Mr. Allen's attitude was his anger over my having to contact his supervisor after waiting for all those months to hear back from him. Oh yes! It was so nice seeing my mother come home in tears after a meeting with Allen in which he told her I couldn't have and do things for which I had already acquired approval from his Department and licensing from their sister Department (in spirit), The Department of Environmental Conservation. Such a sisterhood between the two departments was easily noticed when Joe Therrien, Director of the Special Licenses Unit stated to one of his long-term helpers about how the DEC plans on using zoning departments in enforcing additional and stifling regulations in use of any and all exotic animals. Wait! Mr. Therrien ... did you purchase the animals in my back yard thereby justifying your theory on total dominion over such animals and their use by me and other exotic animal owners? Licensing and regulations, especially when applied so inconsistently as Mr. Therrien's department does, are used for nothing more than control in turn supporting the continual dismantling of a free society and the replacement by one much more authoritarian. As it stands now, New York State is considered the least free and most corrupt state in the entire nation by public integrity specialists. Funny how those two qualities are so closely associated. Not really.
(C). Your privacy in your own home, including freedom from hypervigilence by authorities and their supporters in the neighborhood.
A good example of a violation of this principle is how Lt. Powell had my neighbors put my family and I "under surveillance" and had every move of ours documented, dispersed throughout social media (of course with the aid of DEC's "helpers" and the gullibles) and reported to Law Enforcement, specifically to him. As a result of such hypervigilence, Lt. Powell was still not able to get us into trouble.
I believe that tells you how clean and lawful my family and I live. Funny thing is, the same people employed to monitor my family and I aren't so clean and lawful. Of course, one should not be surprised at hypocritical trends resulting from the unlawful discrimination by authorities of particular private citizens.
(D). Starting a business that has been lawfully created within town limits. This activity is protected by the ninth amendment of the federal Constitution. Unfortunately, women-owned and small businesses continue to be targeted by local authorities often referred to as "the good 'ol boys club". Often a combined effort entailing media associates, local law enforcement, town staffers, especially in the zoning office, neighbors and possibly even local judges and attorneys (especially in Macedon). In the recent past, there have been "Small Business Advocacy" divisions within agencies such as the USDA, NYSDEC and so on. However, such "efforts" are largely token attempts at convincing the public that the government cares about the situation of its citizens, especially the less fortunate or "under-dogs". Nothing could be further from the truth.
